Ruby Farms


  • In 1935 it started dairy farming
  • In 1952 Roland Ruby sold his cows ​
  • In 1952 he also sold the farm’s milk business to Golden Guernsey in Waukesha
  • The dairy barn, spring housing/milking house, milking processing facility, and silo was on the east side of Calhoun Road and was torn down in 2008 as the road widened​

  • Ruby began to raise and train draft horses for show
  • The Ruby reality truck was used to transport Ruby’s “famous 6-horse hitch” comprised of Belgium horses
  • When Jacob Ruby came, he brought 40 acres of land  
  • Ruby Farms also produced sugar beets and 400 tons were shipped annually to Green Bay
  • The diary included delivery 6 days a week to homes
  • Ruby Farm was one of Waukesha County's major farms for nearly 100 years
  • In 1953 grandson Roland Ruby started a real estate business
    • He developed Ruby Isle shopping center and the ElmBrook bank in the 1960’s​
  • In 2005 Katherine Ruby resided in the house and her son Jacob Ruby owned the farm house and milking facility 
  • Jacob Ruby farmed 120 acres
    • His son John Jacobs 160 acres
    • Grandson Roland, at one time, either owned or rented 750 acres
  • It was a working farm for 3 generations
  • Ruby quit farming in 1953​
